Tips for Filming your game
When using a camera
Lighting
Try to avoid filming into the sun if possible.
Batteries
Make sure you have charged batteries and backups that are fully charged.
Level
Use a tripod, don’t film by hand. Always level the camera.
Sections
Film in sections (thirds) this helps reduce panning.
Angle
Film from the highest possible vantage point.
Power
Make sure you have the power cable.
Framing
Follow the play, not the player. The ball does not need to be dead center.
Lens
Make sure the camera lens is clean. Only use a lens cloth to clean.
Zoom
Zoom in a bit is play is on far side of the field and you are filming from ground level.
Medium Angle
Film at a medium angle. Not too tight so you only see the player and not too wide that everyone is very small. Rule of thumb, capture about 30yds worth of width. Error on the side of too wide.
Be Prepared
Whenever possible the defending goal should be in the frame as well as the attacking play. This eliminates blurry panning on a quick shot or missing a goal altogether.
Rain
If raining cover the camera with a plastic bag (small grocery bag) and keep trying to film, if it gets impossible to keep the camera dry, stop.
